We're Involved
The next time you see the Mall’s center court a-buzz with children being fingerprinted, you’ll know that The Young Lawyers Division of the Berks County Bar is hard at work.
The Young Lawyers partner with the Wyomissing Police Department to provide parents with a photo ID card of their children. The card has a photo, fingerprint, and vital statistics such as age, height, and weight. At least 100 kids go through the program each year. The event is held in the fall before Halloween, and the Attorneys also provide reflective strips for the kids’ Halloween costumes.
The Young Lawyers are active in other community volunteer projects, including Bowl for Kids Sake, a fundraiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters; Opportunity House, where the Lawyers cook and serve meals to the residents; and Stepping Out, a program that teaches high school seniors about the rights and responsibilities they will have when they turn 18.
